You’d Better Work

The White House continues to talk about gay marriage. But I want to talk about the 2.6 million jobs that Bush said would be created, then later reneged. People in this country need jobs, George. They need the leadership to get jobs created (and here’s the kicker) in the states. That means in this country, not overseas. Although you yourself have never really needed a job, and may not understand the dire need for most people to have one, it’s really important to individuals, to families, to the economy and therefore to the entire nation, that we get some jobs up in this piece.

Unlike “defending” marriage, getting Americans to work is what’s going to strengthen this country. Stopping gays from marrying isn’t going to do squat for the economy. Rallying people to vote for you because they don’t want gays to marry is not going to strengthen the economy or create jobs. If you’ve got such strong ties to the business community (and we know you do), get to steppin’. Jobs. In this country. Two point six million. That’s a lot of jobs, George, for a lot of people. Your job is to create jobs. You’ve never been much for work, but you’ve got a job to do. Stop distracting from it.
