    I’m Going To Paris

    effl.jpg

Do you have any Parisian recommendations? Spill it.

I know to stretch my trip to the Lourvre during the course of a few days. I’ve been tipped off that the Picasso and Rodin museums are not to be missed. I bought a fantastic book about the markets of Paris and Polly gave me a dee-vine book about Parisian walks. I want to check out the catacombs and eat escargot. I will shop at Colette and seek out l’histoire de couture. I may hop a train to Nantes and see the Extra Action Marching Band at the IDEAL Music Festival.

So, dear readers, what do you know? I’m going to keep a travelogue here; check in and follow along won’t you?

You must have dinner (or lunch or tea) at 1728. I posted a review here:

Where to have lunch or tea: top of the Printemps department store (Brasserie Printemps) is a MUST. Get there by noon otherwise it’s too crowded or go in the middle of the afternoon.

Really amazing lunch (hardly any tourists): Le Pochtron (menu only in French, prices are reasonable)

Other excellent places for dinner: Afaria, Chez Omar (the couscous is divine)

Ok, so of course you WILL be spending time at the Bar Hemingway, located deep inside the Ritz, yes? You should go at a festive hour, like 5PM when it is slow and watch it fill. You should also go late and see what characters are there feeling chatty! REPORT BACK DAILY DAMMIT!

Hi - I’ll be in Paris in a few weeks so I was blog surfing and found your blog.

Things I want to see and do I missed the first time - wander Montmartre and the West End. Visit the Pere Lachaise Cemetiere. Eat a (or several) macarons. Visit some of the outdoor food markets and flea markets. Walk down the Champs d’Elysee

Things I recommend from my first trip - the Musee d’Orsay is amazing and not to be missed if you’re a fan of the Impressionists. The building is beautiful as well, it was originally a train station.
Don’t forget to wander down to the Eiffel Tower at night as well as during the day - it’s so pretty lit up and sparkly.
Even if you don’t go into the Centre Pompidou, wander the courtyards around it watching the street theatre and people and fountains. Also, you can go up the outside stairs/escalators and see a view of the city.
Climb up to the top of Notre Dame and see the view and touch the gargoyles.
